This episode explores how disability justice relates to the ongoing pursuit of justice for transgender communities, who are increasingly under threat in the US and many other countries.

We'll listen in on Qudsiya’s conversation with Ericka Dixon and Sebastian Margaret of the Transgender Law Center's ⁠Disability Project⁠. They discuss how we can build cross movement solidarity between transgender and disabled communities, and all who exist at those intersections.

Ericka Dixon

Ericka Ayodele Dixon (they, them) is a Black, queer, disabled person currently serving as the Disability Project Senior National Organizer at the Transgender Law Center. Ericka is first and foremost an educator, writer and facilitator, and has extensive experience developing curriculum and training based on the intersections of disability justice, racial justice and gender justice. As a survivor of sexual violence themself, Ericka believes this work is both deeply personal and political and grounds everything they do using a queer, Black feminist lens. Ericka holds a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and a B.A. in Culture, Society and Human Rights from Emory University.

Sebastian Margaret

Sebastian is an anti-ableism and disability community educator, capacity builder and strategist. A 2019 Soros Justice Fellow they work at The Disability Project @ The Transgender Law Center. As a disabled gender-non conforming, Trans parent who is as queer as the day is long; they are grateful to have been raised in Yorkshire (UK), deeply enriched by white working- class racial justice values while coming of age in the pushback to Thatcher’s Britain.
